"Gas switches" is how many different mixes this computer can be programmed to switch between mid-dive, mostly relevant for technical/staged-decompression diving. It doesn't tell you which gas types (air, nitrox, trimix) are supported. See Gas types and the product description above for that.

Pros
  • Single AA battery, swap it anywhere in the world, no charging cables on a boat
  • Supports up to 5 gases plus CCR fixed setpoint diving
  • Dual algorithm choice (Bühlmann GF or VPM-B) and digital compass
Cons
  • Bulkier and pricier than you need for pure recreational diving
  • Wireless transmitters for air integration are sold separately
  • Overkill feature set if you only ever dive single-tank recreational

The Perdix is what most technical and cave divers reach for. The AA-battery design is a deliberate choice. No dive computer failure is scarier than one you can’t recharge mid-trip, and a spare AA is available in literally every gas station on Earth.
